legal personification of AI from the perspective of "the bicentennial man

The article explores the feasibility of granting legal personality to autonomous Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, using Isaac Asimov's book The Bicentennial Man as a reference. The research aims to assess how technological advancements challenge traditional notions of responsibility, rights, and duties, and to what extent the creation of a legal status for artificial entities, such as e persons, is viable and necessary. The methodology is based on a literature review and document analysis of legal texts and legislative proposals, relating them to the literary fiction book, adopting an interdisciplinary approach between Law and Literature. The main results indicate that AI evolution is pressuring the legal system to reconsider traditional concepts, but granting legal personality to machines faces significant ethical and legal barriers. It is concluded that, although AI is becoming increasingly autonomous, the recognition of rights and duties for these entities is still distant and requires a more in-depth debate.
